Flea Market Finds

flea market finds 4

If you follow me on facebook you know that this past weekend I went to garage sales in my little hometown village.  Thursday morning my teenager and I headed out before 8.  I unloaded my car 3 times throughout the day.  I went back out mid-morning on Friday and brought home another 3/4 of a carload.  And Saturday afternoon I had to go once more to a huge sale I’d been to twice before just to check one more time!

I shared some pics on facebook over the weekend and as I was editing to share them here I remembered that I had some flea market finds from Springfield that I haven’t shown you yet.  So lets get to those first and I’ll share my garage sale loot later this week :D

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies

water 1

“But now, listen to me, Jacob my servant, Israel my chosen one.

The LORD who made you and help you says: Do not be afraid, O Jacob, my servant, O dear Israel, my chosen one.

For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields.

And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessings on your children.

Hometalk – DIY Projects Under $10

sewafineseam2705

Hometalk recently asked me if I was interested in curating a clipboard of DIY projects under $10.  What fun!  Scrolling through hometalk projects, picking the ones I liked that can be accomplished on a small budget.  And aren’t the low-cost projects the best ones?  It is so fun to create something fresh and fun, add some new decor to a room, revamp your outdoor living space, or make everyday tools lively and bright.

May 29, 1974

globe and flowers 9

A quick online search didn’t turn up anything of any real import that occurred on May 29, 1974.  It’s just another day in history. Today it’s just another day of the week, another day in the month of May, another day in the year 2013.

But in 1974, May 29th marked a special day in the lives of a couple people – my Mom and Dad.  Their firstborn was born – a daughter whom they named Jill Elaine. (that would be me :D )  She had blue eyes, lots of dark hair, weighed six pounds and was 19.5 inches long.  Today she has green eyes, hair that is still dark due to monthly help from the hair dresser, weighs a bit more than six pounds and is 5 feet 3 inches tall. (and shrinking)

Coffee…

sugar donuts 2

I never dreamed I’d end up a coffee drinker.  I grew up in a family of non-coffee drinkers.  I liked the smell, but the taste?  Not-so-much.

Then I married a man who drank coffee every single day.  Besides packing his lunch every morning I learned how to operate a coffee maker and brewed a pot for him every morning.  (that changed as the girls were added to the family – he now makes the coffee :) )

For years I still didn’t drink coffee.  But slowly that changed.  A sip of coffee here and there.  Playing with adding cream and sugar.  And then I ordered my first Starbucks and I was hooked.  Doctor that black brew…

Memorial Day

folding chairs 9

Yesterday at church we heard about Memorials.  It was an awesome sermon and I wish I could share the entire message with you.  Alas, my brain doesn’t retain things verbatim.  So I just want to remind you that today, on a day set aside to remember those who have sacrificed their time and lives to our Nation,

A French Recipe

french dessert 10

A year ago I bought a book of recipes.  French recipes to be exact.  I blogged about the book arriving in the mail here.  And I said I was going to be making one of the recipes ASAP.  As soon as possible turned into a year later.  And it was a French recipe I will be making again – hopefully before another year goes by :D

Rock and Swivel

swivel chair 6

When I was a little girl we had an upholstered chair that would rock and swivel.  I loved that chair!  When my Mom wasn’t looking (or was ignoring the fact that I was doing something I’d been told not to) I’d sit with one leg in that chair and use the other to make myself go around and around as fast as I could.

Giveaway!

mikasa china 13

It’s giveaway time again!  But before we get to the details of that lets read a bit about dining and look at some pics of pretty dinnerware!

From the dawn of time, dining has been a necessary and important part of life.  Even in the Garden of Eden there was food – and OH what food it must have been!  God placed Adam there and told him to tend it and watch over it.  And eat of it too!

Springfield Flea – 2013

DSC_3100

Whew.  What a weekend.  I have to admit it was rather fun being a vendor instead of just a shopper!  Getting in early by just waiving a parking pass.  Seeing the first of the shoppers wind their way through the booths.  Seeing all the great stuff displayed by so many wonderful vendors.  Just being in on the behind-the-scenes, learning a bit more about the ins and outs of a pop-up shop.  Spending time with my friend who set up shop with me.  She’s the sweetest thing and it has been so fun working with her.  We set up together at The Brick Farmhouse Event in 2011.  We wanted to do Springfield last year but neither May nor September worked for me.  And now here we are a year later with one Springfield show under our belts!
