Happy New Year!
Well hello there 2014, how nice to see you! Amazing how fast that number went from 1999 to 2014. I remember standing in my aunt and uncles basement, in a large circle of family, with lighted candles and singing in the New Year – Y2K (2000). Joking about whether the lights would stay on or if all the hoopla over computers not being made to handle the millennium change might have some truth to it. The lights never so much as flickered Time continued to tick by the same as always. Only somehow it seemed to speed up. I mean, I blinked and now it’s 2014. I’m holding my eyes open wide because the next time I blink it will be 2024 and my baby will be 18, middle child will be 20, my oldest 24 and who knows who all might be added to our family!
As we meet this New Year, with all its newness and clean slates, let’s make the most of the time given us. Do our best to fill it with what the Lord would have us to do. Pick up our swords and fight for the truth – however that looks to you. Be a light the cannot be hid. Proclaim the Truth without wavering and stand for God with no apologies.
‘Our Father in heaven, we pray that your name will always be kept holy.
We pray that your kingdom will come – that what you want will be done here on earth, the same as in heaven.
Give us the food we need for today.
Forgive our sins, just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us.
Don’t let us be tempted, but save us from the evil one.’
May your year be blessed and may you glorify God in all you do.
