Check List and an Armoire

My girls are home!  They had so much fun spending a few days with Grandma and Grandpa.  I accomplished a lot while I was home alone with no interruptions but I was very glad to have my girlies come home.

Check List

Here is what I said I would do while they are gone – clean my house (check) fit a bride for here wedding dress (check) Create some things for an event next week (sort of check – I sewed up one thing) write some blog posts (nada) plan for a vaca that is coming up (nope, didn’t get to that) ship a pouffe to a client (check and check, check, check) oranize more of my sewing room (half-check) Do some shopping, (check, check) Enjoy a couple dinners with my hubby (CHECK!)  Read a book (check)

I’d say I did pretty well with my list.  I won’t bore you with the stuff that needs done that I didn’t get to.

Instead I’ll show you a few before pics of the ongoing organization project.

armoirs (1 of 4)Poor lighting I know.  These are before pics.  HUGE armoire.  It’s an old tv armoir so it needed a bit of ‘remodeling’ which my hubby very willingly did for me.  Since I only paid $65 for this he was happy to fix it up to make it more workable for the fabric storage I plan to use it for.

armoirs (2 of 4)We laid it on its side to slide it into my sewing area.  Then it had to be laid on its back to stand it up because the ceiling wasn’t high enough to stand it upright from this position.

armoirs (3 of 4)Here is the pile of stuff I had to put on the computer and my sewing desks.  It gets interesting trying to organize a small space!

armoirs (4 of 4)I mixed up some milk paint the minute that armoire was ready for paint.  I wasn’t keeping that orange oak around any longer than necessary.  I haven’t taken any ‘after’ pics yet because the room is still a bit chaotic and I’m not done organizing.  I had to take a break from organizing to get some projects done.

armoire (6 of 2)

These are the new knobs I put on the cupboard.  I bought them at hobby lobby and yes, I know they don’t match.  Mismatched was the intended result :D

armoire (5 of 2)And here is just a peek at one of my latest projects.  More coming on this in a few weeks hopefully!  I hope your week is going great, it’s almost the weekend again!

Oh yes, a winner has been chosen for the Ramsign giveaway on my blog last week.  Sarah S. is the winner and has been contacted!  Congratulations Sarah!

Boy do I know what you mean about trying to do things in a tiny room. My craft room is super small and I have my corner computer desk in here with pc, printer& file cabinet. It’s quite cozy in here, in summer it’s hotter than heck and in winter I have to take a drawer out of one of my iris carts so the heat duct won’t be covered up. This room is chuck full of full shelves and iris carts along with my work table (covered with “stuff?”)lol. Oh Yeah I have a table in front of window with tv on it burlap ribbons in boxes on bottom. It’s really cozy. But we manage don’t we?
Can hardly wait to see what you fabric cabinet looks like when you’re done. I’ve never liked the orange oak wood or faux wood, never. Give me good old pine any day. Happy days

  4. I love the glass knobs. I think when I ever get some chalk paint and ever get the cupboards in the basement painted, I want to use glass knobs.
