Paint. Eggs. Bunting.
Clarification: Craft paint, egg-shaped drop cloth pieces, and a pennant banner = painted eggs bunting!
Easter and Spring will soon be here (I hope). Well, we know when Easter is, we know when the calendar says Spring is, but the weather doesn’t always get the memo. But anyhow, crocuses will soon pop up around here followed by the tulips and daffodils.
My home decor will soon have some Spring and Easter accents showing up. I cannot wait to have windows open and sweet spring breezes wafting in, blowing away the chill and gloom of winter.
Heading outside in flip-flops sounds delightful. Hot sunshine warming the cold, frozen earth and bringing new life, green grass, and glorious leaves. I can almost smell Spring now.
A walk in the park, a bike ride, sitting in a lawn chair watching the girls run and play. Placing my urns back in front of the house and filling them with beautiful flowers, digging in the dirt, planting my herb garden. Just a few more days – 35 days till April!!! Woo-Hoo!
Cut out a lot of egg-shaped drop cloth pieces. By a lot I mean A LOT! If you don’t have kids you won’t need quite so many but if you DO have kids you will need lots.
Decide how many eggs you want to paint and lay them out on a piece of card stock. Or newspaper. Or a drop cloth. Or whatever you have on hand.
Raid your kids craft paint.
Add craft paint to the shopping list when you realize that most of the paints you just pulled out (and photographed) are empty.
Be thankful that the pink paint still had some left in it. Cause a trip to the craft store was not in the plan – I wanted to use what I had on hand. I will be buying more craft paint next time I’m shopping though 
To use for stamping, spread the paint out smooth and thin. Put stamp in paint and then press firmly to drop cloth surface.
Hand paint stripes, dots, squiggles, whatever you wish. Readjust your work space to make room for the kids that come running to ‘help’ when they realize Mom has the paints out. You could use painter’s tape if you are a perfectionist and want your lines exact. I didn’t want to take the time so I just free-handed mine and went with the imperfections.

You will need as many blank drop cloth eggs as you have painted eggs. If you have kids you will probably need to cut more eggs when you are ready to sew because you handed over all your extras to the kids who wanted to ‘help’. Add a tab to the top of each one by sandwiching a piece of ribbon or bias tape between the 2 eggs and stitching it fast, continuing to stitch all the way around the egg.
I used a pack of narrow vintage seam binding from my stash. I used it for both the tabs and for the ribbon all the eggs hang from.
Start your top ribbon by tying a knot at the beginning end. Leave about 12 inches or so before adding the first egg.
Double fold binding is the easiest choice but you can use ribbon or anything you please. I started stitching right before the first egg’s tab. Tuck the tab into the binding and sew it fast. Continue to sew the binding together between eggs.
Hang your new banner somewhere fun and step back to admire it. Take some pictures of it. Blog about it. (the photo shoot and blogging really are optional 
)
Make some more out of other fabrics and in other sizes.
